Introduction to scriptwriting sem3

The first class of new sem always seem so excited. So what is about scriptwriting.Honestly, there is just write down any story that you want, it is very simple as i thought. But, there is actually lot of knowledge. 

There are 3 act structure. 

Origination / Escalation / Resolution 

Mr.Anwadi talked about Tsui Hark, the famous hong kong director. I used to watch his movie too, he's definitely a very creative director, though.

Movie Title: Life Of Pi
Director: Ang Lee
Storyline: Piscine Molitor Patel, an Indian boy always called by Pi. Story started by an adult reminisces his story far ago. Pi’s father own a zoo in a little place of India- Pondicherry. All of his memories describes why all of Pi friends calling him “Pissing”  and so he started introduce himself as Pi when he go to secondary school. Pi,the name that he describe as pays tribute to the irrational number which is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Pi live in a open-minded family, because of he father’s , he always know a bit of animal psychology. There’s a 450 pound tiger in his father zoo that called Richard Parker who accidentally reverse the name with the hunter. Pi is a muslim but then he believe in Islam and Christianity and decided to be a adherent in three different religions.Because of some government problem, Pi’s father has to sell the zoo and immigrant his family to Canada but then they had to transfer all of the zoo animals to North Africa. A few days out of port from Manila, the ship encounters a storm and sinks. A shipwreck is happened. Pi managed to escape in a small lifeboat with an injured zebra, a hyena and a tiger that hide under the canvas that Pi didn't noticed it earlier.Pi looking at the sink ship, he keep on screaming and yelling, his parents ,his brother and his helpless. He could just looking at the ship sink slowly and doing nothing but crying.
The others days, when Pi was still depressing and he saw an orang-utan sitting on a flooding banana bucket that he called it “orange juice”. After orang juice has arrived on their ship, the tragic actually started. Hyena kills the injured zebra and the orang-utan, Pi feeling more stress and stress that his friends has been killed by the cruel hyena. Suddenly, a tiger jumped out and killed the hyena and dangling it to the canvas. Pi wanted to share the boat with Richard Parker and so he had to give it some training or punishment while using a whistle for signals.Pi asserts himself as the alpha animal and is eventually able to share the boat with Richard Parker. They came to a floating island full of meerkats which pi think that he could ever live in this place forever,but he quickly found out that  the island’s plant life is carnivorous forced him return to the boat with Richard Parker. After 270days after shipwreck , the small lifeboat washes onto a beach nearby Mexico. Richard Parker jumped down from the lifeboat and walked through to the jungle without any glance back which made Pi cried like a kid…….

Protagonist: Piscine Molitor Patel. The main character of this movie, Pi playing this role so fine as he characterised an Indian boy who decide to follow three type of religion, full believable in god and suddenly involve into a shipwreck that changed his entire life and he is a student of zoology. Pi always get curious about animal and people. 
Protagonist: Richard Parker. A Bengal tiger that owns a human name.  Pi’s furry companion for two hundred seventhly days sharing a little lifeboat. Weight in 450 pounds in nine feet tall, it killed the hyena on the lifeboat but anyhow it still respect to the dominance of Pi. An animal that with wisdom.
Conflict: 1.Man Vs Self
Pi is encounter in a shipwreck.There are non any provided food and so Pi have to decided what should he do or not. Pi write down his diary everyday because he keep on believing in god and there are many times that Pi wanted to give up on life but he still not losing any hope as long as he still alive. This is a fight with spirit.
2. Man Vs Natural
A  natural shipwreck cause Pi have to live on a lifeboat with a tiger. The natural also take away Pi’s family fortune and also made Pi facing the cruelness of life.He had to think of a way to not faces illness or hunger and dehydration from the sun.If he wanted to survive,he need to learn fighting with the natural.
 
Resolutions: Pi finally reached land and recover from his journey.He was interview by two Japanese man after that, because of those people are not really believe in his story, then he actually created two version of the story leaving it up to the readers to decide which one is true.So, what do you think about this?
Moral of the movie: It’s one inspiring story of courage. This movie given people a lot of imagination space. Which one do you believe? Im not sure. But most people who had watched this film before have different answer. Its definitely a very deep story, but then it still let me know about the truth of life. Maybe sometimes we are going to face some hardest things on earth but please do not give up easily. Do you believe in god? I do. I always pray before i go for exam (lol) but honestly it’s just depends on you want to believe it or not.Maybe it’s true or maybe we just create a god to explain what we have did in this reality world.This story captivated me easily, because i love animals and I love the way that how Pi and Richard Parker communication and live together. Their feeling actually growth strong slowly and slowly day by day, I felt hurt like Pi when Richard Parker disappear in the jungle without any glance back.

My weekend story
My life is so boring that i couldn't write down any story, but i think that boring is also a lifestyle.Today, I wake up like usual , go to bath change all over my clothes and drive to college. Feel so lifeless, going to class
again ,daydreaming again. I actually thought that i will live like this forever.As time ticked by, finally is time to go back home. sigh. Sometimes i got no energy to faces my messy life.My family seem to be peace but they often get arguing when a problem come out, and I'm always regret not to study oversea which make me feeling quite lost. When I'm going to take my car that park in the outdoor car park, i saw a granny standing beside my car. i don't know why i feel afraid of this old lady. She turned her head back when I'm going near the car, she look normal with just a lot of wrinkles but still kindly. She come near, oh there is a bowl on her hand. she's a beggar. I realised. I shake my head like usually and also waving  my hand like telling she i got no money sorry. She look flirty and she is smelly. I want to open my door,but she still moving forward to me like I'm invisible. she shaking her bowl, there’s empty and suddenly i feel regret. Eventually i take out my wallet, decide to give her just one ringgit. You know what? my parents always tell me not to believe in them, and i think they are just truly true because when i take out my wallet granny grab it and run away. Yup is run and i stunned. She is running. She is not granny but  a young lady who make up and pretend like a old lady just to grab away my wallet! Oh god now i just realised. How could this be! I yell and trying to get her back but ……. This is just a dream, i wake up from my bed and it is just 7:30a.m. Scary dream, i mumbled and sleep over again. When i drive to school, having lunch with my best friends and discussing assignment with my group mate, it is finally time to go back home.When i step in car park, i cant believe what i see in front of me. There is exactly same scene with my dream. The old lady just standing right beside my car and when she turn back, the same smile just hanging on her face. I trembled, when i go to my car she just did the same action like in my dream. I got no idea why am i not running away from this, i want to know if she will grab my wallet and run away like exactly in my dream.when i take out my wallet, till i give her a five ringgit, the old lady just keep on bowing to me and said thank you. I am curious till she walked far away i just started my car and go home. I feel happy , because i helped a poor granny to solve her dinner problem. Maybe they are trying to cheat me but if we can help why not? This dream actually told me that if you want to help people then don't trying to judge people, help in your truly heart.

Movie Title: Departures (2008)
Director: Yojiro Takita
Starring: Masahiro Motoki , Ryoko Hirosue, Kimiko Yo
Storyline:Daigo Kobayashi lost his job as a cellist and he started to start his new life at his old hometown in Yamagata where his mother died two years ago earlier. Daigo went back to his hometown with his wife, it actually made Daigo meomorize the bad memories with his father whom didn't have a good relationship with him but then Daigo still keeping the “letter-stone”-a stone which his father gave him many years ago. Daigo finally found his new job on news paper as a departures which his misunderstood as “ travel agency”. He goes for interview with Yuriko Kamimura at the Nk agency office and his is surprisingly that he was hired and with the high paid salary but then he found out that it was actually a work that he cant accept actually…The first work to Daigo is to helping Yuriko to be playing a role of dead bodies for cremation in a ceremony known as encoffinment. The first job to Daigo is to assist with the encoffinment of a woman who died at home and remained undiscovered for two weeks. He is beset with nausea and later humiliated when strangers on a bus detect an unsavoury scent on him.He can’t accept the job that he’s belong.As time passes by, Daigo becomes professional with his job as he completed lot of assignments and absorb lot of experience. Daigo discover the truth which is hide in this job……One day,Daigo’s wife Mika announced that she’ve pregnant, she speak up that she hope Daigo could change his work that can made theirs children be proudly. During the argument, Daigo received a called for encofficent for Mrs.Yamashita who is the owner for the public bath. The ritual earns him the respect of all present, and Mika stops insisting that Daigo change jobs.

Moral of the movie: After watching this movie, it’s quite touched. The character of Daigo actually taught me lot of moral in this movie. I’ve never seen a story talking about the job of “departures”. At first i think this is a story about a young man chasing his dream and working very hard to be successful. But it amazed me with the continuous of this story, because Daigo job actually made me feel strange but want to know how the story going with the job between Daigo and his family. Daigo himself actually think that this is not the job that he can accept at first, but then he slowly discovered that the professional and moral in this job although his wife doesn't agree that what he had did. They had an argument and his wife leave him for a short time. After the confinement of Mrs.Yamashita, Daigo found out that his is in love in this job. I felt like the same thing. Everyone is on their way chasing different dream, but each of us will get obstacle too , the matter is how we solved it and faced it. You can be upset when you facing problem and you give up your dream so easily. You shouldn’t seriously. Stand up and find another way like how Daigo do. I hope i could  write a story like this , to encourage everyone.
